Engineering Background, Policing Ambition
Rohit Mehta came to FIRST IAS INSTITUTE’s Gurgaon centre with a strong engineering base and a clear preference for IPS. Early mocks showed solid CSAT and Science coverage, but GS answers lacked depth and structure.
Faculty focused him on answer frameworks: introduction–body–conclusion discipline, use of committees and data where relevant, and optional subject mastery through weekly evaluations.
He paired classroom learning with a strict revision calendar—Prelims thrice weekly in the last four months, Mains answer writing on alternate evenings, and monthly full-length simulations.
The Personality Test phase emphasised clarity of purpose around policing and public order. Mock interviews at the institute helped him translate technical thinking into concise, citizen-centric responses.
Rohit’s selection into IPS reinforced that domain strength alone is not enough—writing quality and interview composure decide the service.
Back to Success Stories“My technical edge helped Prelims. Mentored answer writing and mocks made me interview-ready for IPS.”
