Commerce Graduate to IRS (IT)
Meera Joshi joined FIRST IAS INSTITUTE’s one-year programme aiming for a Group A service. Her commerce background helped in Economy and optional areas, but Polity and History needed deliberate rebuilding.
She followed the institute’s integrated Prelims–Mains plan: NCERT foundations first, then advanced notes, then PYQ-driven revision. Mock analysis sessions corrected her tendency to over-attempt in Prelims.
For Mains she practised ethics caselets and GS-3 data presentation weekly. Mentors emphasised clarity over ornamental language.
Selection into IRS (IT) aligned with her academic profile and public-service goals. She credits consistent classroom tests for keeping panic away in the final months.
Meera’s path illustrates how domain familiarity plus a disciplined GS plan can open a suitable Group A cadre.
